| LooLoo, bringing home? |
|
|
Shirin, I was thinking about this.. Can't you bring LooLoo home then?
You've been hand feeding him yourself all these days and from the stories I heard from you about the knowledge of the people working there, you are far more experienced/ knowledgable..
I would not give just anyone this advice, but as this store isn't too fussy about the health of the birds there, I would seriously consider bringing LooLoo home earlier.
I'm sure your vet will provide back up..
I would get LooLoo tested, as this store doesn't seem very responsible after all..
Is it that you don't have a cage at the moment, or is it also that you don't have the financials to get the cage? Just curious! |

I agree with Sue, I think you would feel much more comfortable taking little LooLoo home too. Everytime I see that photo of LooLoo on your home page, I just have to smile She's just a DOLL!
I sure hope that she's OK & all goes well! |

Hey Shirin...
I'm just wonderng, do you have an estimate of time when you'd be able to get the cage so you can bring LooLoo home?
I know that you said that they wouldn't do anything to harm LooLoo, but I would feel so much better if she was home with you. |

Thank you all for your concerns, part of it is that I am saving up for a cage, because I was planning on getting a stainless steele one and they cost over $2000. But that's not a huge issue, I could always buy on credit. I think you guys are right, he would probably be better off here. I have to go buy more food for the lovebirds soon, I will pick up some baby food too, and I'll have to get a thermometer and syringes. Thanks for caring I really do appreciate it. |

Hi Shirin:
I think that you should insist the store tell you the name of the vet they took LooLoo to. If the vet has not replied to them you should call the vet yourself. You cannot risk exposing Bunny to anything if LooLoo is sick.
But I agree with everyone else, that Loloo will be better off with you than at the store. It sounds like a horrible place.

Hi Genny,
I know the vet that LooLoo has been seeing, he works in the same clinic as Bunny's vet. I did call them and tried to talk to the vet, even before they decided to take him in finally, but they said that because his file is under the Pet store's name, and the petstore is their client, they can't discuss LooLoo with me because of client confidentiality Even though I got really mad and told them that I AM THE OWNER!!!!
Anyway, I am definitely taking LooLoo to the vet myself before I bring him home and doing a full ckeck-up, and also will quarintine him from the other birds for 30 days once he comes home. Thanks for your concerns I'm doing everything in my power to get him outta there as soon as possible! |

What?! THey can't discuss LooLoo with you because the store is their client?! Did you ehm, I hate to ask this like this, pay for LooLoo already? I assume you did because you said 'I am the owner'..
Will they let LooLoo go? Or will they wait until he's weaned? |

I have payed for him in full, so technically they can't stop me from taking him, the only thing they can to is take away the health guarantee if I decide to take him home unweaned. That way if I make a mistake and something goes wrong they don't have to pay for it. |

Yes, they can't stop you from taking him, but why, if he's your 'property' (Boy I hate that word, sorry!) can't you just get his records from the vet?
I am sorry, I just can't believe that part..
On how much feedings is LooLoo at the moment? |

Still three feedings.. That's going to be hard when you bring him home, I think?
But as you've fed him at the store.. I think you'd do great with the support of an avian vet.. |

Not that this might matter's but with Mylo
a much smaller Parrot, three feeds consist's of a 12 hour period. One feed every 4 hour's don't know how it is with a cockatoo but thought l would let you know :wink:One thing l remembered is it doesn't have to be on 4 hours for example.Your parrot will let you know.Through it's routine of feeding when you will see when Looloo want's a feed and as long as it's around say within 1/2 an hour of it Looloo will be fine.Just remember to check and see it Looloo is hungry at 10.00pm that's the last he has till morning.
This is just an example of Mylo's 4 hour session so it should not be taken as rule for different size different matters?

His feedings at the store are 5 hours apart, 10am, 3pm, 5pm. But it's not like they ever do it on time, they have sooo many babies with just one person to feed them I'm getting really worried now |

You needen't worry Shirin,to say if Looloo has survived so far it's fine for that's the routine he has.He is used to that routine now and good you know it, for that's the routine of feeding Looloo will expect when you bring him home until he eats seed on it's own.Just remember my young WINTER tiels now have to wait from 5.30pm till 7.30pm for there feed.Routine is the answer for this and if Looloo is doing find with that routine than you should need not worry |

Thanks Greg I guess I just don't trust the pet store anymore after that whole ordeal of them not wanting to take him to the vet when he had blood in his poop. |
