As promsised, I uploaded pictures of my new fid Jasper. He is a Mollucan Cockatoo, around 15 years old. His pictures are in my diary. Enjoy
Is it ok to let birds drink 100% pure fruit juice? Jasper will drink orange juice. I am having a hard time finding out what he likes to eat and how he likes to eat it.
What about vegetable juice? I'm just hoping to find a quick way to get his nutrients! |

Juices are fine... although with fruit juice you might want to hold back to an occasional treats as they usually contain high amount of sugar.
Veg juice are good if you make it yourself.. I find that those veg juice tha tyou get from the supermarket tend to have most of it's nutrients leach out already anyway by the processes that they use to make the juice. |

Thanks for your suggestions! I made some birdbread that Jasper will eat! I found the recipe online. I used all natural ingredients and babyfood, etc. My other birds even like it!
I never thought of making my own vegetable juices! The fruit juices I am letting him drink are 100% with no added junk. I wish he would just eat the real stuff!
I am always offering real food, hopeing he will atleast hold it to his beak |

it's great that Jasper (and the other birds) like birdbread... I need to start making it again. I got lazy.. hehe
You know come to think of it, I hardly ever offer my birds fruits. Mainly vegetables, they might get the occasional piece of apples if I am having some, or if I feel like giving them a sugary treat. Frutis should be used as treats only anyway... so try lots of veges and chopped up differently... Like my athena and Achilles, they won't eat slice apples, but they will take cube apples. the same as brocolli and other vegetables, they have to be either little round thing (eg sprouted beans), or cubed... so fussy huh.. hehe
Don't be discourage, it takes times for birds to change their habits, but you'll get there eventually, you just have to keep trying. It might seems like such a great waste to start off with, but try small amount each time until eventually he'll get so curious at it and he'll pick at it.. Good luck. |
