Dayna, i think Dory's just molting. pBFD affects the young pin feathers that coming through. Basically they don't grow fully before falling out. |

nope, she'll be just fine, moulting is a normal part of bird, just like us human loosing hair and then getting new ones soon enough. |

An emory board will knock the sharp tips right off her feet.
I have to wrap Roxy in a towel to do it or she will munch the emory board.
She doesn't mind the towel, but plays the see if the biting end can get me through the towel game. When I'm done with her she'll laugh when I finally let her get me. |

Thx, I tried it.. And it worked but she didn't seem 2 really like it, it's probably cuz she doesn't quite understand it. i only did like 1 of her nails. I'm sure she's just gonna have 2 get use 2 it |

You eventually will be able to get her to hold her feet out for filing.
It will take practice and giving a treat when she allows each nail to be trimmed then it will become a desirable activity.
I still have to towel Roxy because she will shred the emory board. |

Don't worry Dayna. Birds shed feathers and grow new ones. Try working with her natural behaviour to do her nails, like filing them from the outside of the cage when she is holding onto the bars, I wouldn't cut them if you don't know how, they have a vein in them that will bleed if they are cut too short, have the vet show you when you go next time. Picasso lets me play with his feet, I can even trim his beak without towelling him so long as he's in a good mood. We have an agreement, I take care of him and spoil him and he gives me kisses and cuddles |
