He's being his usual monster self Twisted Evil thanks for asking Sue. He has a new playmate, my new flatmate who he thinks has yummy toes and likes helping him with his homework Laughing he's a skticky beak too following him around to see what he is doing.

Picasso is getting red and itchy from his new feathers coming in. He's been getting really frustrated because they aren't growing through properly and are breaking off before they open, I've been putting some aloe vera spray on them to soothe his skin, he hates it, when he sees the bottle he screams and runs away but it seems to reduce the redness so it must be doing something. His beak is breaking too, he's on soft food all the time now.
He's still a great big guts though, scoffing down his food, he's also decided that I stay up too late for his liking so when he's ready for bed he runs off to the bathroom, climbs the shower screen (highest spot in the house) and goes to sleep, he'll nap on me during the day but at night he get's fussy, apparently I must be too noisy too.
I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow for a check up. It's really upsetting seeing my little baby going bald. Crying or Very sad

Poor Picasso Sad It must drive him mad. Pi and Norman climb the curtains and hide in the shadows if I keep them up too late. Then I have to climb up to get them down Rolling Eyes

Shells, you're doing such a great job with Picasso! You know, I'm sure it's all much harder on you than it probably is on him. It sounds like he's still such a happy little guy Very Happy Except for the darn irritating pinny feathers Mad
He probably don't mind being bald at all, or that he has to eat soft foods. As long as he's not hurting, you know. And I know you do all you can to keep him happy Very Happy

He enjoyed his little eggscursion today, he sat up were he could see out and kept hissing and lunging at the trucks, big steet signs and overhead bridges as they went past.
When we got there it was starting to rain and when I took him out of the car he spread his wings and started screetching and doing his little rain dance. I waited out the front of the vets for our turn so he could enjoy the rain, I could see the the vet students and the nurse inside the surgery laughing and pointing and they came out to take his picture, one of them had a video camera (probably to record procedures for revision, smart kid)
He didn't like the examintion at all and kicked up one heck of a stink, strangely he has never bitten, only flapped around and screamed the place down, because he was struggling he ended up with the towel upside down with his head tucked in and his bum sticking out, he was calm and quiet in that position but as soon as the vet uncovered his head he was off again, boy what a fuss.
The vet says he's doing pretty well considering, he's got plenty of muscle, no lumps, his beak looks better than most birds with PBFD, the main concern at the moment is seeing if he will get new healthy feathers or if he's going to be a baldy.
The vet told me the vet who trained him may be working there p/t and that he is trying some alternative therapies, he was the vet who discovered PBFD in Australia so he's the best guy for the job, he told me Picasso was a good candidate but he did warn me that there were no guarentees though. I get some test results (and ask the questions I forgot to because Picasso was kicking up such a stink) this week.

Ha ha ha what a story about Picasso.. I had to laugh when I read he did a rain dance while you are on a trip!

I hope those alternative therapies will work and bring some relief to Picasso.. Smile What kind of things are we talking about?

Oh what a big kid you have there... love the rain dance.. i bet he was loving it!! Smile
I can't imagine him making such a fuss over the exam, he's such a sweet bird!! Razz you must have had the wrong bird with ya in the room. Picasso is too nice for that.. hehe...
Good to hear that the vet thinks that he's still going good, and is still in good condition considering his circumstances. That's all because he has a mommy that really looks after him!! good work Shells...

I'd be interested to know what kind of therapy they are talking about... just so i know what's out there. I hope this help Picasso as well.
