Time Out....  Reply with quote

How long do most of your birds get to stay out of their cages daily? Do you stick to a routine? Pam:)

My birds are out all day unless I run errands. I'm one of the lucky stay -at- home moms. Now my kids are in highschool so I'm a stay -at -home mom for my birds. We are both spoiled.Karen

Karen-Do your guys fight with each other? I have to seperate their times amongest them..my male rb Evil or Very Mad picks on my females but then my lessor Evil or Very Mad is jealous of the other females and picks fights and they are just babies! Sad
so, I have to split their time out.Pain in the butt sometimes, especailly when I have stuff to do around the house and I start losing time and it's time for the next one to come out...It's like I'm opening cage doors all day long! Laughing Pam

Yesterday, they were out for I think 12 hours.. And the day before a little longer? Of which some time walking the dog & shopping.. Smile
I don't stick to a routine.. Just get them out when I feel like. (He he he)

Flit just loves Zazu and keeps jumping on Zazu's gym. Also, Zazu's food seems to be more interesting than his own food, resulting in him eating Zazu's foodbowl.. Shocked (They have the same food!)
Zazu leaves him most of the time, but sometimes he is so fed up with that little stinker, he walks towards him. Flit then quickly runs away, over Zazu's gym with Zazu on his tail.. When he can't shake Zazu off he will jump on the floor..

Sue-Has Zazu ever hurt Flit? Do you think if Flit didn't leave when he does, do you think Zazu would harm him him in any way? I tried to bring Xany & Lexy together on a tree and sparks started, it was like a sword fight with their beaks and I said no-more and haven't tried since. I thought for sure they would get along because they are only babies and only two months apart! I'm afraid of a eye or something else just as serious happen...Sad Pam

No, Zazu has never hurt Flit..
Flit is a smart guy, as he leaves when he knows he cannot win.. Well, some time ago he didn't want to leave Zazu's foodbowl! He defended it, and Zazu was quite indignified..

I don't know if Zazu would hurt him, probably not.
He just pushes Flit from the gym with his foot.. He tried to do the same with Iago, resulting in his foot getting bitten by Iago! (I was making a movie of it, I only saw that his foot was bitten as I played the movie in slowmotion)

If you don't feel comfortable about bringing them together, please don't.. Birds will make a bigger problem out of it once they know they make you nervous!

Do you have a neutral room? Or can you bring them outside on a gym? Then they might get along!

He he he, Zazu is an angel in your eyes isn't he? Well, he can also be a hanfull! Well, also ten hands full! Smile

Don't let him teach your flock manners. They'd be out of control with huge attitudes then!
