It is nice when we have our dream birds... like the U2 you've always wanted The Slender Billed I'm getting is mine. Actually my dream bird is the Bronze Winged Pionus... I had one for 8 months before she went over the rainbow bridge.
Actually, you might know, there are 4 subspecies of Eclectus that are available for pets. They are all a little different looking and different sizes. I think when most people hear Eclectus, they are thinking of the smallest Solomon Island. They are all beautiful. Not anywhere near as cuddly as your U2 though!

My hubby LOVED his BW!!! I know that if I found one, he'd jump at the chance to get it. I think they are so beautiful. But now that we are in Ohio, it's hard to find them. Much more common on the west coast (he's from Oregon). |

Actually, they're not common anywhere I considered finding one again, but I wanted a larger bird for my next and last one.

Have you searched the net to find a bird breeder that will ship a BW to you? I know here in Indiana we have a few large breeder companies, that say they will ship anywhere in the states. I do not however know their method of shipping, but it might be a way to find another BW for your hubby. My hubby loves watching Crybaby's antics, but from a safe distance! He will on ocassion simply get CB to step up on his arm, and then he will bring him to me (for the foot or so I sit from the cage) and seems a bit afraid of of my baby. CB does bite on occassion, though it seems to me there is always some sort of reason for it. He bit our 26 year old son through the bars of his cage, and poor Chris was only trying to slowly get posesstion of his TIGHTLY held finger. So for now Chris wants nothing to with CB. I have very few instances of aggressive biting out of CB and haven't had any for the last 3 months. Only when he is scared or just throwing a tantrum.

I neglected to tell you that the breeders I was referring to are located in and around Chicago. Ooops!

I really get excited when I hear of or see a Bronze Wing. I think I always will... my favorites for sure. I didn't have Adrion nealy long enough before she went over "the bridge"...
I can't have another one though.... having 3 birds already is good, but no more for me

Bih, Terry is living with a friend who she has always loved more than me, and she is very happy. So, my 3 forever babies are Robin, Gryffin and the new baby soon Well, Robin being a smaller species, is sadly about halfway through his lifespan, but I won't be sad yet, since he still has about an average dogs lifespan to go yet
