Writing an Article about the Major Mitchell's Cockatoo  Reply with quote

Hello, my name is Tammy Gagne, and I am freelance writer who specializes in writing about animals. I am a regular contributor to Dog & Kennel, Cats & Kittens, and Bird Times magazines -- all national publications in the US that can be found at Borders and Barnes & Noble book stores. I am also a columnist for Bird Times.

My most recent articles are:

"TAG, You're It! The Timneh African Grey" (Bird Times, February 2005)
"Spreading Their Wings" (Bird Times, February 2005)

I am currently working on an upcoming article about the Major Mitchell's cockatoo. Frank from BirdBoard.com suggested I contact the administrator here, so I thought I would post my questions for her and anyone else who might be interested in responding.

If you own one of these interesting birds, any information you could provide about owning the species would be greatly appreciated. Please simply repsond to this inquiry by copying and pasting the following questions with your answers into a message to the e-mail address below.

Please be sure to include your name and location, so I can quote you properly if I use your responses within the piece.

1. What is the name and age of your Major Mitchell's cockatoo?

2. What do you like best about the appearance of the Major Mitchell's cockatoo? What do you like best about its general temperament/personality?

3. How did you discover and ultimately come to own this species?

4. What do you think differentiates this species most from other types of cockatoos?

5. What has been your biggest challenge in owning a Major Mitchell's cockatoo?

6. What has been your greatest reward?

7. Is there anything else you would like to share about this species?

Thank you very much. I look forward to reading your responses.

Thank You for taking the time to write something updated on these mis-understood birds because there is so much to learn about these beautiful, dazzling birds. Can't wait to read it. Thanks Again Pam

Thanks, Pam. I just wanted to update that I received the contract for this piece in the mail today. I'm not sure of the publication date at this time, but will post it as soon as I receive it from my editor.

Thanks again.
Tammy
