| Zazu speaking |
|
|
Some days ago, when I was watching TV, the phone rang in the tv program.
Zazu replied with: 'Hallo met Zazu' which means: 'Hello, Zazu speaking' |

Thanks Bih.. I was stunned by what he said. Usually he's saying the same all over again. |

I guess Zazu has 'cognitive' intelligence, just doesn't like to show it too often... hehe... King Zazu is indeed a very smart bird. |

Hahaha! I bet you're right.
Most books refer to Major Mitchells as being stupid. I guess they're just shy in showing their intelligence. And they're headstrong too!
Are A & A headstrong as well? |

Yeah Athena and Achilles are pretty headstrong... and Achilles actually surprised us one night.
He and athena was just hanging out in the spare room one night with the door wide open, and our bedroom door was wide open as well, as we were in there watching TV.. Anyway, Achilles decided that he was going to fly in for a visit.. he flew around and round the room, then landed aobut a meter from hubby, and the next thing we hear is this really cute little 'hheeelllloooooooo'... like in a little girl's voice coming from Achilles!! it was sooo cute!! Never heard him said it again though. Their original owner say that she's never heard them say anything before either. So yeah.. it was very cute. |

Bih, that is really adorable! That reminds me, Gryffin has a little girl voice (that they say all Eclectus have) and when she says hello, she also says it like heeelllloooooo. It's so cute that it's hilarious! Does
Does Apollo talk? They say Corellas are supposed to be the best talking cockatoos.

yeah it was so cute.. I wish that he'd talk again just to hear that cute girly voice again.. hehe
Apollo, yes he does talk. but he's not the best talker that I've heard from a western long bill though, so yeah.
He vocab includes... Good boy, good bye (they sound similar but with a different pitch and tone), hello (he's now changed it to halloy, and also he has a different hello for when the phone rings), come on, step up, and i'm most impressed with 'bu yao hua dan', which means 'don't be naughty' in chinese... and also seperate the 'bu yao' (don't) 'hua dan' (naughty' and use that in context... like he'll tell people 'don't' when they are doing something he doesn't like, and he'll say 'naughty' when someone is teasing him.. hehe...
He also says 'Ruyi', but to him, that means no, or don't as well.. He picked that up when he was being birdsat at my parents for a month, and my parents would tell Ruyi to stop being naughty by saying loudy 'Ruyi', so ever since that to apollo it means 'stop being naughty' as well.. hehe
and oh, he say s 'mum as well'.. but he associate that with my younger brother, he picked it up as well when he was being birdsat.. my brother would come out of the hall way and ask mum a question, and the first thing he says of course is 'mum'... so yeah.. hehe very cute. |

I thought I heard him said something a couple of weeks back while I was in there with them, but I couldn't make out the word though, so I just put it down as a noise he made while playing with me. and yes they do have such cute voices!! |

Oh, Apollo is so talented!! He is a bilingual parrot! Actually trilingual if you count his own bird language too! There is a video you have of him barking like a dog, it sounds like he is saying "radar, woof woof, radar!" What is he saying there? I've always heard the corellas have a clearer voice than other cockatoos... will be interesting to compare when A&A start really talking, how the voice differs from Apollo. Someone with a Slender Billed told me they sound like Mike Tyson the boxer

you know, that's one of those words that he says that I'm still trying to figure out... hehe.. I couldn't tell you what it is.. hehe.. sorry.
I have heard very very different voice from different long bills corella, and even little corella, and they can be so different! there's this one bird that hangs out at a bird shop, his voice is very very raspy, and then there's this other one in another bird shop that is very clear and sharp, and in the same place theres a female that sounds like a bloke. Apollo I think is in between raspy and clear/sharp.. depending on what he's saying. I'm still trying to figure out a lot of 'words' he's pulling out, but can't figure it out. he's not a very clear bird in terms of pronouciation. |
