| CJ's first night alone |
|
|
We have our first night away planned soon, and he's been making "boo-boo-beak" all week just when we go to work! I have a feeling when we return from this brief trip, we are going to catch holy hell from Himself!!!!
My questions are these - He doesn't have any other people friends really - altho he's met Gramma and Grampa a couple times. Should they drop in on him while we're gone? Or would it be more upsetting to hear someone in the house and find it's not us?
Also, we won't be home to cover him overnight. Should we leave him uncovered a night or two ahead of time to get him "used" to it, or I am overthinking again? Would it make a difference one way or the other?
Thanks in advance for any input! |

Hey Riff
How long will you be away for? Generally it's nice for bird to have some sort of interactions every now and then. I am sure he won't be upset by seeing grandma and grandpa when you're away. It shouldn't matter with the not covering thing... as long as the house are dark and CJ will be able to get some sleep. I guess for your own peace of mind, you can try it prior to your little trip away. Good luck with it. |

It's for 2 days -- one night - that's all.
He must sense something is up - he's being even sweeter than ever! LOL |

Aren't they just the smartest little things? Apollo is like that when I have to go on a work over night trip or something, he's like the cuddliest bird around and he wants to spend all the time with me, as if to make up for the time that I will be away or something!!
So smart I tell ya.
I think CJ will be fine having someone else there, it shouldn't stress him out too much I don't think. Apollo is fine when we're not home, although we do take him over to my parents place to bird sit for us. I really don't think there'll be a problem there with CJ. Good luck |

My mum used to ring the house and talk to the birds over the phone, I don't know if it helped or not 'cause they'd run around looking for her, but she did have a lovebird once who stopped eating while she was away and when she rang he started gutsing down food while whistling back to her. |
