conure- help please!  Reply with quote

Hi, I have 2 parrots. an amazon and a nandey conure. last night my cousin came to thier cage to pet and play with them, and one always gets jealous when the other gets attention from my cousin because she tends to alwayz play with the bigger parrot(amazon). and the smaller one(conure) gets agitated and starts picking the bigger bird with his beak. and last night the bigger bird he butt him in the head, the smaller bird in the head really hard and caused him to either have a pinched nerve or a neourlogical problem in the brain. Crying or Very sad when we took the bird to the animal hospital lastnight the doctor says she may not live for too long, maybe within a few hours, he told us that this morning come pick up the bird and carry him to a vet to take X-rays and see what the problem is.when we saw the bird this morning, his head was turned almost all the way around and he look ed as if he was crippled down to his feet and wings. they say they might have to do surgery to fix his neck. Crying or Very sad but hes not going to be the same. i havent heard anything yet as to whether or not if she will live for awhile or die or even if the problem is fixable. Crying or Very sad my question to you is will he die, is this fixable? or if he lives how much time will he have to live? someone HELP!

Crystal,

Take your bird to an Quaified Avain Vet ASP. If you do not have one hen look here http://www.aav.org/ do not trust anyone else. An XRay is not a good thing to do to a bird, they have to put him under to do the xray. Our bird has a problem that normal Vets should not even be looking at...

I agree with John, please take him to a qualified avian vet asap.. We don't have enough knowledge here about medical issues..

Hugs to you..
