| Fairly new owner, need feedback |

|
I have owned a conure for about a year. I have not seen him for six of those months. After about a month of being back in each others life, he has started doing something that I think he shouldn't. Recently, he has been fluffing up to where it looks like he's arching his back, spreading his tail feathers and rubbing the underside of the base of his tail feathers on me. All while bobbing his head up and down. He started doing this on the back of my neck, under my hair, and now recently he's been going to my feet and doing this on the sock on my foot when ever I have them up. Also, when he's doing this behavior on my foot, he turns around in a circle. At first I thought that this behavior was occuring because he's happy, but I'm starting to think that he's a little too happy. Any suggestions on what might actually be going on? |

Aaaw, he wants a little girlfriend Just try to ignore the behaviour and distract him when he does it. Don't encourage or reward him for it. My lovebirds do this to their birdy tent but never on me thankfully |

Thanks, that's what I thought. I keep telling him that I want flowers first, but I don't think that's gonna happen. |

LOL... flowers huh.. nope, I don't think it'll happen either.
I think when it happens, just quietly without much of a fuss, take him back in his cage and let him settle down. distract him with toys to get his attention away from intended 'victim'....
Poor darling, he's maturing up... |

yes, he is trying the mating dance. You need to distract him with food, toys, teach him a trick, or something. My sennie would do this all the time..and he'ld puke on me..ughh! But I liked the noise he'ld make..a cute little "eft eft eft"..now he's stopped tho..
Good luck with your conure!

Thanks all for your advice. I'm on my way now to buy him more toys and other goodies. Maybe buy him nesting supplies. Any suggestions for that as well? |

I think he's just pleasing himself.. Don't worry about it. You can distract him and then reward him for other behavior.. |
