| Green Cheeked as Companion for Sun? |
|
|
Hi all,
I've had Pico, my first bird and Sun Conure, for a little over a year now. He's doing GREAT! I recently boarded him at the bird vet when I went out of town, and they all wanted to keep him! He was on his best behavior, and entertained them tremendously.
I've been considering getting him a "buddy" to keep him company during the day, while I'm at work. Separately caged, but in the same room so they can "talk" to each other.
Pico can be LOUD, so rather than double the noise, I thought I would stay away from purchasing another Sun. I'm considering a Green-Cheeked Conure, after reading up on several other breeds within my price range.
Any thoughts on these two as "buddies"? I'm prepared for Pico to be jealous, after being the only fid. But I'm hoping he would be entertained while I'm gone. |

Well, I have a maroon tailed conure and a budgie, and they're more like brother and sister than buddies. (They always try to drive each other nut by stealing food, having "who is louder" contests, and teasing each other if the other is closed in it's cage.)Budgies and conures are 100% different, but apart from the daily quarrels, they get along fine. Maybe you don't even have to get a conure, perhaps you could settle for a smaller spiecies.

I just adopted a green cheek myself along with 3 mustache parakeets. I am waiting to see how he (Bob) does before putting with other birds in the outside avairy. I think all mine that are in the house would be too much action for him as Bob seems to be a quite type and my fids are all so busy and talky |
