Are the wings clipped? This may really help taming him.. What's his name? |

Well, a proper clip would be very nice..
You can take the bird into let's say, a bathroom on a t-stand. Then start practicing up and down..
Wondering if anyone else has some ideas? |

Take the conure to a small room such as a bathroom as Sue suggested, away from his cage. Have some of his favourite treats with you, and start by offering him the treat. Your bird might not take the treat right away, so be patient. When it does, praise and offer another treat. Once you have gotten your bird to accept food from you, you can begin step-up training. Gently press your finger against the belly where the belly and legs meet and ask the bird to step up. Praise and offer a reward when the bird steps up. You should keep the traing sessions short, so the bird doesn't have time to get bored or lose interest, but make sure to do them frequently. Does the green cheek allow you to hadle it right now without biting? Does he let you to touch his feathers? If not, don't try to push this. Some conures require a longer time to build that trust, so be patient, and continue to do step up practice until your bird consistently steps up onto your finger on command. |

Thanks for your input Shirin..
Great advice!
It made me think of clickertraining. Would it be something for that birdy?
What do you think? |

thanks sue, I'm just reading a book on conures right now to become more familiar with them because we have 5 of them at the store. So that's where I got the info. I'm not sure about clicker training, but I think it's good for all small birds? I read that in Bird Talk, so it's worth a try. |
