| Newbe visits the Nursing Home |

I took my sun to the nursing home where I work the other day. This is his second visit. The first he was ver friendly but this time he didn't want to go to any of the residents. I had hoped to get a few pictures of him with different floks but he wasn't having any of it. I guess he is growing up and learning that everybody isn't "moma"
All the people who saw him just loved him, but there was something someone said that bothers me. As I was leaving Newbe did a little shake on my shoulder (all birds do this I'm sure) just to get all the feathers back in place after everyone had touched him. Anyway this lady said "Yea shake those mites off on her shoullder". I looked at the lady and told her "Newbe doesn't have mites". The lady began to tell me that all birds carry mites. Is that true? I've never seen mites on any of my birds or traces of mites being on the birds. Can ya give me infor on this so I'll have something better to say if anyone ever tells me that again. |

How nice to read that your Sun was joining you! 
Perhaps he didn't have his day? (And would he go to residents next time?)
I cannot believe what that lady was saying though! How rude! And mean!
I wouldn't go into discussion with such a 'stupid' person.
Her remark wasn't based on anything, just prejudices.. And probably, she just wanted to provoke you!
Probably, that lady is talking about the 'ancient times'.. I remember some old books writing about mites with birds, so I guess it was more a problem of the past..
How old was that lady? |

Yes I was mad, it's like she was talking about my child! Anyway the lady is about 60 and is a nurse at the nursing home  I'll let it go this time but next time she and I are gonna have a talk about her comments. |
