| Not wanting to step down |
|
|
Well Napoleon is getting to be stubborn. Once he steps up on me he dosent want to step down. He will get to the point where he tries to bite my finger when I tell him to step down. I know your not suppose to take your finger away and show signs of fear, but OUCH! He will puncture me and sometimes makes me bleed. I tried before, but after several nasty bites I had to pull my hand away. One person from a parrot rescue org told me when ever my bird mis behaves I should put him in a gage in a different room and leave him there for several hours. I suppose that just sounds mean to me, but do you think it will help him mind me? Any suggestions would be helpful to me.
Thanks! |

If you ever do timeout in the cage, 10-15 minutes is enough. You don't need to leave him alone for several hours.
You know what's a trick that works for me? Because my grey does this exact thing sometimes. And by watching the eyes and body language, you can tell when a bite is coming. If I know My parrot is going to bite, I just put a sock over my hand before I pick her up. She gets so distracted by the sock, that she forgets about biting. It works everytime.
But maybe others will have some more conventional advice |
