Welcome Andrew! I hope you find the perfect companion parrot, there's so many choices. I myself am owned by a 13 1/2 yr old male grey cockatiel, a soon to be 12mos old female cinnamon cockatiel, and my personal baby, SweetPepper, a 3 1/2yr old female senegal parrot. She is absolutely adorable and loves to cuddle under my chin and get good scritches. I began with budgies and moved to tiels. I always wanted a bit bigger bird and did a lot of research. I found the senegal best fit my lifestyle. A meyers parrot also in same family is good too, but I came across my SweetPepper at a birdfair and she picked me. Thats the best way to get your baby, when they choose you as their parront. Good luck with your research and the perfect birdie match.
Another good magazine to subscribe to is BIRDTALK MAGAZINE. It's one of the best magazines to read and learn from.
Good Luck,
Teri, owned by SweetPepper, Maxi, and baby Kacey |

Hi,
I enjoyed the vist to the Zoo. Here at columbus Zoo they do just abot the same thing. The big birds are always a thrill. Seeing a green wing fly over my head is what convined me that was the next bird I wanted to get. This season we did do just that. I am going to try flight training her. Steve Martin's group in Flordia trains the birds here. I am going to try to get down there for one of his Two sessions in 2007. Ann Should be old enough by then.
It is nice to know that regradeless of which side of the world you come from the books or at lest the same...Our library looks almost like yours. |
