Thank you for asking about Piwi. As far as I know she is not a plucker. She is definately going through that hormonal time of year though. I'm not sure why she is so scruffy looking. I am giving her warm mists and trying to switch her diet. I think she may have been on mostly seeds. She was cute the other day. I layed down on the bed just to rest for a sec and I guess I dozed off and when I opened my eyes she was right there in front of my face......making her little noises. I don't know a lot about Indian ringnecks but I'm researching them. Thanks though for the nice comments. Smile

I am back visiting your page again Smile . Little Laker falling asleep in the video is really very sweet. Cuddle up to a warm cup of tea on a cold day. Your acrylic at the bottom of the page is very nice......and a very cold looking scene.... Very Happy

Thanks for the link on the palm oil. I had read a lot of stuff on the benefits of red palm fruit and oil but I had not found a good site to aquire any. I heard that it is real good for african greys. Anyways that site is reasonable on there shipping so I will probably give it a try. Thanks again. Smile

Oh we love him to bits Embarassed - he's like our 3rd son - but tiny. I often wonder how it would have been if I'd got a different type of bird.

He is so much fun & it is great to see how confident he's getting.

Today he was calling out to my husband over & over, from the studio/bedroom. My husband called to him from the office & he finally came flying out of our room & into the office to join him - he has a pretty sweet life & it makes us very happy to give him that aviary type life in our home. Heart Heart

Thanks for the compliments. Very Happy

Have you been checking the Toronto Humane society website? They had some budgies for adoption a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like they've been adopted already. But just in case you didn't know, they don't always post all the birds they have on the website. Once I went in to look at a pigeon I wanted to adopt, and they took me back to this back room filled with birds. The had lovebirds, budgies, conures, all of which weren't advertised on the website. Just call in and ask to talk to Giha, and she should be able to tell you if they have any.

Thanks so much Shirin - yes it was the Toronto Humane Society ad i was looking at & when they stopped posting the photos I thought they were all gone & was very disappointed. I think we'll go down as soon as I have the extra cage - thanks again!

Hi Jac Smile
What is the big pet show that's going to be in April? When's the date, and where will it be held? I'd like to go too Smile

Great webpage. Very Happy Wow that sounds like some dangerous ice falling. I know awhile back you offered a suggestion about using red palm oil in Piwi's food. Anyways I was able to locate some in a huge grocer over by where our parrot network meets. I bought a rather large container figuring I would try a little for all the birds....it is supposed to be especially good for african greys as they eat red palm fruit in the wild. I will say one thing......it is MESSY. I am going to ask my vet how much he would recommend using before I go any farther. Just to be safe. Just wanted to say again thanks for the suggestion and I do enjoy reading your diary entries. Smile

I never thought about spreading it on bread. Maybe mixed with a little peanut butter on the bread they may like it. A little peanut butter red palm oil sandwich. lol I also tried putting it in a little dab of mashed potatoes which some of them seemed not to mind. As for the vitamins, all our birds get vitamins sprinkled on their soft foods in the morning. Smile

Laker is very pretty. A budgie or a linnie would be great. When I was looking into a linnie, I found a breeder. I could give it to you if you want.

Also, if you get another budgie, the parrot rescue PASO is over flowing with the little guys!! Maybe you could consider adopting from there? I'll give you contact info if you want. Its in Omemee.

They had linnies at PASO, but they're already taken. 4 lil green ones.

I might go to the All About Pets too. If the weather's nice I'll bring my bigger boys. They budgies are too little and might fly away. Smile

Here's the info anyway. I just checked it and it's more critical than I thought. They have 17 budgies !

I copied this from the site:

Budgies - Budgies

We have more budgies in need of a home. The situation is getting critical as we have 17 budgies all needing homes. Can you help give a some of these guys a great home!

Heres the link to the contact info:
