 Poor Piwi, how sad that her beak got bitten off. I didn't know beaks can grow back. She looks sad with her short beak. I hope she doesn't have any trouble eating? I'm glad she is with you and John. She will get lots of tender loving care from you both. I hope she will find a good family to go to. Piwi deserves a happy life. |

oh it's alright!
I manage to escape his snaps when I can
it is too funny.........one day I had some (sugar free ) jello with me by Oskar's cage...and he was in time out for being a naughty boy.....well, as soon as I let him out he layed his head right on my shoulder....as if to say..."mmmmm can I have some? see I'll be a good boy!" so I gave him a bit....and he was wonderful the rest of the day!!!!

he's doing wonderfully!!
he's muuuuuuch much better now....we both have slight problem with his stepping on my hand...but he has gotten the stick training down to a tee........I'm sooooo soo happy about that!!

Wow -I'm so glad you posted on my homepage - I adore Piwi!
I saw on another bird board that a similar thing happened to their IRN - a Too, I think, ripped the beak off. They took it to the vet & he said the beak would grow back - but of course feeding was going to be very difficult for a long time. Good work on the previous owner's part. That's a terrible injury!
Is she going thru a molt or is she a plucker?
Her little beak looks kind of cute. 
I'll look forward to checking in on her. |

You said you didn't know what's up with the feathers & I've been thinking. On another Bird Board they highly recommend Red palm Oil in their bird's diet.

They have said it really improved their birds feathers. So when the new ones grow in they'll be lovely. They spread the oil on foods or mix it in their food. Apparently some birds really love it. Once a week or every day - the amount used doesn't seem to be an issue although I'd not want to overdo it - it is high in saturated oils.
Hope this is a good idea for your foster. All the best - I look forward to the progress reports you have on her.

Hi Carrie, just a note to let you know that Kacey is enjoying her cheerios treat toy you sent. The cheerios are disappearing off it.
I am having trouble with my computer so I have to do updates at work during downtime. I need to get in touch with Dell to find out why I can't type. The keyboard is froze up. I can read and delete my e-mails, I just can't send any out.

 Hi John and Carrie, I do miss the PM function. How are you, and what is the weather like in Ohio. I'm e-mailing from work, we may be closing down the clinic early due to bad winter storms. Only had one pt come in at 8am and one at 9am. Storm is to get worse so may close at 12 noon. I may be calling Dell today if they are open to see if I can get my computer up and working correctly. I need my Fluffies fix. I want to update my homepage, make a new diary page and such. Bye for now.

 Hi Carrie, thanks for the valentines note. I really do miss the pm function. Kacey goes in to the vet tomorrow morning for another playdate. The wrap on her wing will be removed and the vet will watch her to see how she does without it and that she doesn't start overpreening to the point of making herself bleed. Will update tomorrow nite again.
Hope you had a wonderful valentines day also. What did John get you? |
