I loved all the stories and great pics. B-Mack is a male tiel based on his cheek coloring. They tend to be better talkers than the females (though not always) and can learn very intricate whistles. They LOVE attention and thrive on it. There is no way to tell how old he is .. other than the Vet can say yes, he's young.. but depending on the bird - young can mean under 6 months or under a year.... beyond that the bird could be 20 or 60 and nobody will know for sure. Cockatiels can live up to 20-25 years, and love to be around their owners and are probably the most social of them all. Their cousins the Cockatoo's might have them beat in the social department, but they are very much alike in that department. They are generally docile and love to please their parronts.. enjoy and thanks for sharing your stories about Macky, Micky and B-Mack Thanks! |

Hi again Sarah! Thank you for the very nice comment!
Sadly tho, my 'tiel, Poppy is just not hand tame at all! In fact, he's really rather cage bound! The only time he ever gets on my finger is if he is startled & flies from his cage, & there have been a couple of other times, but they were just flukes The only way I'm able to get him on that home made tree is to get him out of his cage using a wooden dowl & he doesn't seem to enjoy being on it at all once he's there
As for the tree, it was nothing at all to make that Sarah. We cut down a branch in my hubbys folks forest & I'm not even sure what kind of tree it is, except that it's not oak. He also screwed some horizontal pieces on it for easier perching. We set it in a sturdy Christmas tree stand & that works GREAT! The only thing you really need to avoid is trees that have been sprayed with insecticide. I know the trees at his folks house are not sprayed. I'm sure B Mack & Micky would love something like that!
And did you see that play gym Chaquitas Mom made from PVC pipe in the DIY forum? I think that's a great idea too! |

Aww, what adorable pictures! You're tiel and budgie get along perfectly! My bird's walk around on top of eachother's cages, they aren't good friends so they don't play and preen like your fids!
Micky and Birdie-Mack are too cute! They love to bathe and play! I know, budgies do have lots of energy! My budgie's a little blue blurr!
I can't wait to see more pictures! |

Hi Sarah, love the dream catchers that your sister made. I would be very interested in one for myself. I have saved the feathers of all my birds, that includes my 3 parakeets from years ago, my tiel Digger who died last year, and my present birds, 2 tiels and a senegal.
Send me info on how to get one made and where to send the feathers. |
