Well, here is a new diary to keep track of my breeding efforts.

Im currently trying to breed Diamond Doves and Chinese Painted Quail. My doves (Pixie and Dixie) are currently sitting on eggs and hatching should occur any day now, providing the eggs are fertile. This is thier second clutch ever. Thier first clutch was right before the second and was infertile so its a waiting game now.

My  quail hen (Lucy) has laid 21 eggs and to my extreme delight, she started sitting on 10 of them! She made a little nest that looked a bit like a bower and went over her back and she collected 10 of the eggs progressively into the nest and started sitting on them. She may have gathered them all in the nest but in the interest of not overloading her (its her first time sitting), I took the other 11 and put them in my incubator. My quail cock Ben has been an attentive little partner and guards her and the eggs well. He even helps to sit on them at night! I have been supplementing thier seed with greens from our garden and a softfood mix which I replace daily.

    All seems well right now and I have been writing everything down in a notebook so that I can stay organised. All I need now is luck!
