Poppy in his New Home
Well, Poppy has moved into Dillys cage. Sad? Yes, it is sad But Dilly no longer needs it. Cages aren't needed where she's at now. And it's a much larger, nicer cage than Poppys old one, it cost too much to just pack it away somewhere that it will only take up room. Poppy is one that just doesn't take real easily to any kind of change, so I took a couple of days to make the transition. The first day I set both cages on the dining room table & opened the one he was in, into the new one & hung some millet from a perch inside the new cage. It took several hours, but the temptation was just too much & he finally ventured out of his old cage into the new to get at the millet, his favorite treat. I left it at that for several more hours & he was back & forth between the two cages for the evening. But he did sleep in his old cage that night. The next day, I put his favorite perch in the new cage, along with some more millet. I also put his old food & water bowls on the floor of the new cage. I then put the opened cages together again & it didn't take him long at all to venture into the new cage this time. I then slowly took the old cage away & there he was! He really seems to have settled into it well & seems to like all the extra room! He's been exploring it quite a bit! He slept in it last night for the first time & these photos were taken today, his first full day in it

OK, had to get a picture of the big guy in there too

"hmmmm ... I wonder if I can get up there ..."

heading for higher ground
"hey, this picture frame looks pretty good!"
"Oh please, it's all in a days work!"

"OK, enough with the pictures, it's nap time!"
