This is Jako,

Jako, Congo African grey parrot, probably wild caught..

Rocco's African gray parrot friend who had his wings clipped today for the very first time in his life..
Probably Jako was wild caught.. He came to my friend as a very shy African grey parrot, who was afraid of humans.
Over the years, my friend managed open him up a bit, but he remained in his cage. Until today!
Jako is a beautiful and very large African grey (Who certainly commands respect!) with very dark grey feathers.
His flight feathers are almost black, very impressive!
He has strong legs, with which he can jump from play gym to play gym. (I had never seen an African grey parrot jump that far!!)
On the photo below you can probably see what I mean!

Jako, Congo African gray parrot still in his cage, fully flighted!

A friend of mine helped me clipping Jako's wings. She held him in a towel while I clipped his flight feathers.
After that, we immediately put him on the gym outside with the rest of the parrots.

Though we had labeled him as 'untameable' he sat quietly on the outdoor parrot gym after being clipped.
Below you can see a photo of him outside for the first time!

Jako, the Congo African grey parrot for the first time on the outdoor parrot gym!

And another photo of Jako, the Congo African Grey parrot on the outdoor parrot gym!

Isn't this African grey gorgeous?

He even started preening himself..

Preening himself..

Another photo of a comfortable preening Jako..

More preening of parrot feathers!

He also ate some of the food bowl.. :)
(Jako is the African grey parrot in the back)

Congo African greys love food!

Isn't he a beauty?
