August August is really busy  ~ An American Bird Friend visiting Toronto the first week & we managed 3 hrs together Friday night - Caribana is the 1st weekend in August, with it's big Parade & parties throughout the city & our Civic Long-weekend on the 1st weekend - so traffic is not good. ~ A friend of mine had a heart attack & everyone is rightfully upset. Update - he's home & resting - probably being smothered with love & attention!! ~ My husband just got a new job - Mixed blessing - when it rains it pours -  his own business is taking off finally. Update - he's worn out - not surprising & the commute is terrible. ~ I have to finish my latest Home Decor job - they aquire the condo the second week of September but there is so much planing to do.  My husband & I share the car - so him taking off with it is another bone of contention, but I'm trying to cope. Ever heard the phrase, "I can't work like this!"? Update - almost finished but he client keeps changing her mind - & i thought i was indisicive! ~ Creative Muse in a Sulk sooooooooo....Took a long hard look at my computer time.  Had 2 bird boards notify me that i've not been on in a long time.  i've lost touch 3rd one & haven't the energy to get back in - so last evening I canceled all 3.  I also formally took a break from 2 more.  That leaves this board, a Budgie Board & the local  parrot board.  That was 7 boards - silly woman!  Update - it seems to be working but i was sad to cancel the other boards - they were fun - i even got a bit teary eyed. ~ New hobby - creative writing - got a bunch of books out of the library & am going to try my hand there - if nothing else my writing skills will improve.  This should fill in my time so there will be less missing the bird boards. update - too many bookdsto read!  ha ha - more distractions....... Perches  These are Perches made from grass stems & wrapped with twine. The first ones i wrapped with the leaves of the grass but after a month, both birds had worked the ties off until they were sitting on open & loose grass stems. The new ones are working out well.   Here's my visitor from Michigan, with Laker  I hate posting photos of me but here we all are - even Rio is seen in the mirror reflection. I have since cut 4" off my hair - it looks & feels tons better.  Nothing like a photo or 2 to do a reality check. Here are the 2 presents  Sarah brought for my 2 guys.  The first on is a foraging basket.  I fixed it to the drapes.  As Rio is up there all the time - he now has something to play with. The second toy is made primarily of corn leaves woven together.  They all love the bell.   But in truth the hanging basket is their favourite.  Both birds have been checking it out. I recently was enjoying Corn on the Cob - so I've been making corn husk toys again - can't find the camera right now tho.... rats! The Willow Hoop just sticks into the cage but Rio loves it! Laker & Rio love to use the cage as a gym This small movie is about Laker's love for my watch.   I had to trick them to capture their flight.  Here they are flying from my son's room to our's via the hallway.
