Update on Laker's health ~ He was uncomfortable & seemed to be straining.  One day passed.  He seems back to normal, so I think he was eating the bark on the gym.

His Spring molt is in full swing as well & he's very crabby. - & looks even more uncomfortable - blotchy & scruffy!
Today Laker looks like a little devil - 2 pins on either side of his head.

Did I mention that I cut his nails the other day?
- well I grabbed him to wash off the paint he landed in (again) - & realised i can grab the Budgie & have him forgive me.  So I enlisted my husband's help - he held the toweled Budgie while I did the clipping.  It went really well as his nails are white & easy to clip.  But we were so worried about hurting him - he's so delicate.

Meet our new baby!

He was born April 1st, 2007
With some luck he comes home May 27th.
I pray it all goes well & I'm so excited I'm going crazy.
Rebeca put a stripe of blue die on his tail to tell him apart from his brother.

~ Art ~

I've been meaning to do some more bird drawings - so there's another one.  I decided to do another Budgie - This time the Budgie is Jerry - who lives in Michigan, in the USA.  He is a Blue Opaline.
I worked on it today - the leg was too long & i worked on the colours some more.  I'm giving it to Jerry's owner this summer when she visits Toronto for a fun 'Harry Porter' Convention in August.

I was worried Laker might hurt the drawing but he left it alone.

This drawing is for a memorial ~ it's finished!

~ Music ~

Laker loves to spend   time with my son.  Jack plays Bass in one band & does vocals in another.  But he also likes to play guitar - so does Laker.

~ Play & Feasting ~

This is an Origami paper toy i made so Laker has something to play with while I'm on the computer - but so far he's a bit afraid of it.
(this photo shows how long his nails had gotten!)

Here's Laker eating the Broccoli plants - they've matured quite a bit - I'm getting more soon.

This is Laker's new look - Poor fellow he's almost bald - if i didn't see pin-feathers starting I'd be really worried.   Oh, & in the background you can just see a little glass beaded toy i made him - no interest yet.

Just when I thought he'd lost enough feathers - he is balder

Laker doesn't Play At least that is what i thought.

Yesterday he played & today he played Well yesterday he was pestering my husband, so he got the tin lid & some tops & small balls out for him.  He played all by himself.

Still working on this new drawing - the owner is German, living in the States
 - this is her Green Cheek Conure.

~ Memoir ~
When i was a teenager i had a pet duck
- a mallard.

She was a joy to have.  She was free to roam the ground floor, around our house [she didn't wear a diaper & to be honest i don't remember her ever having an accident in our home]  & spent a lot of time hanging outside the house or walking down to our pond [we lived in the country].  The only possible trouble we had was that she stole my dog's food but luckily old Pete was very gentle & long suffering.

She loved to be with me - her Mom.  She's hop into my lap & cuddle.  She'd call out to me in her funny duck voice.  She eventually attracted a lot of wild ducks to our pond & ended up following them south late in the fall.  I left her alone so she could make the choice easier.  I looked for her every year  - we had a lot of ducks & geese return to the pond after that, but i never saw her again.

Today i came across this site in my area & had to share it with you.  I don't know the restrictions in your area but a duck is a wonderful pet.
