He climbed up the cage & played everywhere.

2nd Week

Day 10:  I've been away for 2 days - hubby looked after Laker & Vive.  I think Laker missed me as he called out & flew to the side of the cage when we [my son & I] came home.
~ I took Laker into our bedroom, closed door & was prepared to do more step-ups.  But I could see he was interested in getting closer.  So I took a chance & let him sit in the cage door.

Other Budgie owners have their fids playing outside the cage
I was a little jealous about this & worried I would push Laker too fast.  I have seen him staring at the cage opening.   I thought I should wait until we become friends first.  I didn't want to try & catch him.

He flew back to his cage a number of times & came out on his own - when the phone rang for me, he stepped up onto my hand & went into his cage with no problem.

I was so proud of him.

'knuckle bones'

I came across my son's old collection of 'knuckle bones', stored in an old berry basket.   I played with some & he was very interested.  He hopped across the bed to jump onto my hand & from there he explored the new toys.  It was so endearing

Day 11:  My enthusiasm is out of control.   Laker, my Budgie of 11 days, is getting bolder by the minute. He sure sleeps well at night tho! (& he takes naps. )

So today he repeated yesterday's getting out of the cage & returning, during playtime. Today however he was more reluctant to return in the end & tried to avoid the step-up, but after a long discussion about me going to Yoga, he relented.

Here he is with that

Evil Wild Bird Caller

that has to be answered like a phone ringing!

Cool Discovery by my husband. (old Dad present from beloved 1st born son   & my step-son)

Finally trying to subdue the Knuckle-bone toys. Some are too big to pick up! He did get inside the basket but I was unable to capture that moment

This was a real surprise! Not only did he climb on me & fly to my hand, he also thought my feet made an OK perch.

My husband says its his Vulture Pose.
