Paphos Bird and Animal Park (Cyprus)

During my last visit to my home island Cyprus, I found that they'd just opened a new a bird park and of course we had to go visit . The establishment was a pretty good effort overall, they had an impressive variety of birds. I was really excited to see species like the palm cockatoo, hyacinth macaw, and hawk-headed parrot! They also tried to keep each bird with at least a couple more
of its own species which is good for the bird's well-being I guess. My only complaint was that the bar spacing on the cages was so small that it made it difficult to see the birds sometimes (and even more difficult to photograph them!). The cages could have used a bit more natural vegetation as well. Besides that, it was really cool for me to see all those birds in real life after having seen them only in photos. I hope you enjoy this selection of photos from my visit there :)

This is from the parrot show. The macaws did all sorts of clever tricks :)

In this trick the B&G macaw flew to a spectator's hand to pick up a coin and then flew back to put it in the piggy bank. They look so gracious and beautiful when they fly!

This is the overly friendly peacock at the cafeteria. He'd do anything for a frie!

Photos from the macaw collection. Sorry for the poor quality and the intrusive bars :(

I don't remember who this one is but he's pretty!

Some amazons here.. they had a lot more amazon species but I couldn't photograph them at all through the bars :(

The hawk-headed parrot.. gorgeous bird!

Moving onto some african species...

Some flamengos..

Pionus parrots! They're cute little birds :)

It wouldn't be a bird park without lovebirds :)

You could have your photo taken with some birds. In this photo this fella he was waving to me and saying "hello" while putting his head down for a scratch. So cute

Some other bird species.. they also had a nice collection of eagles and owls.

and last but not least.. my favourite, the hyacinth macaws. They're soooo stunning!

This cutie came up on the bars to say hi ;)

And that concludes the few photos of my visit to the Pafos bird park.
