Hello! It’s George again. I’m just SOohh excited!! Mummy has now finished my new playroom, just in time for the lovely sunshine we’ve been promised… I await with baited beak… Most of you are familiar with the playroom I ‘used to have’ Well. Since then, Mummy met a lady on our local freecycle website who called round for some wood. Well, to cut a long story short, she absolutely fell in love with my old playroom Actually, to be honest, it was the Heras panels she was interested in; so she suggested to Mummy that she’d like them, because they’d make a good fruit cage for an allotment she had. She promised me a bit of the fruit she’s growing there.. But it’s a surprise, Mummy doesn’t know yet, so I don’t want any of you telling her ok! I guess they call that an ‘all round good deal bargain bag’ Mummy put on her thinking cap and these drawings show the initial ideas we had for the playroom We were going to put one structure at each end of the garden Well, as you will see, things didn’t work out that way. On the Heras one we had, because the wood wasn’t treated (dangerous to prying beaks) it soon lost its ‘good looks’ as it became ‘weathered‘.. This time we wanted a more permanent structure which is “aesthetically pleasing” on the eye We, as a whole team, all feel we have achieved this. (They serve me well my humans!!) My team being Deana, Jamie, Mummy + me (Mum didn’t do much at all and I was there in a supervisory position, which is MOST important, before you start!) THIS IS OUR STORY OF “HOW WE ENDED UP WITH WHAT WE HAVE NOW”
You will all no doubt remember the first structure we had: That was quickly cleared because ‘Mummy’s No.1 helper’ (which couldn’t be me THIS time apparently) wanted it as a ‘fruit cage’ So we were left with this (after clearing!!) Oh my Goodness!! Doesn’t it look AWFUL? Because the new fencing had already arrived, we went on and put some up, much to the neighbours disgust… My the air was blue!! Mummy needed to stop their dog pooping in our garden. “Tho the choices were few, the air was blue” that’s what Mummy’s helper said. A little light raport to keep us going eh? haha. I was totally stressed about the whole thing, I don’t need to tell you Then the fabric weed cover was laid, pinned and edged: Mummy’s No.1 helper worked really hard doing this as Mummy is really bad with her hip at the moment.. She is having an operation to replace it soon, so I hope she will be back to her zany self after that!! It’s all too much for me... The gazebo arrived from the shop and was put up… No “blue air!“ So far this week it has rained, the wind has blown at about 60mph, and its been quite cold and I have to say with this kind of weather I didn’t think we were EVER going to finish… Then we moved to the meshing stage: We had all the mesh that we needed, but there had to be a ‘thought process’ we all had to go thru, this is where Jamie came in All the Ladies LOVE Jamie!! They LOVE me too! We had to work out how to mesh the sides (which were round) and put something on the bottom to stop the wood mulch getting out onto the gravel Also before we meshed the sides we had to put an inner roof area in, because the last thing Mummy needs is me going up to ‘hide in the rafters‘!! Like when I don’t want to go indoors, or if I decide I’m not ready to come indoors yet; And of course if I think I’d like to take a ‘closer look’ or a ‘flight out’ with the local seagulls … Again good old Jamie came to the rescue. Then we had a visit from the Council, and they kept Mummy talking for ages… When she came back her face really lit up.. It was lovely to see it again Mummy hasn’t had much to smile about lately so this was a really welcome sight for my big eyes. When she got back, her ‘other little helper that’s not ME’ Deana had been really busy doing the front ‘flight area’ for me. She was amazed. And the pictures don’t do it justice, because it really does look stunning. Then after she had added an area at the front that I can use as a flight area, she added another square on the front .. This is because when Mummy brings me out here, she will have to come into the area with TWO doorways… so I don’t get out and chase seagulls This is what it looks like with the front entrance door on.. Mummy and Deana decided the front entrance door could just be one big panel (i.e. the WHOLE panel is a complete door) It was easier for Mummy than trying to squeeze thru a child sized door This shows the whole front opening, the hexagonal flight area and the gazebo area. You will notice there is a chair and a couple of little tables in there.. Well they aren’t staying there, cos the playroom is MINE not hers. They will be moved out when my toys have been hung in.. apparently she needs the chair to be able to reach to put some toys in but I promise you once that is done, Her, that chair and those tables are GONE!! Mummy took this from the upstairs window It was thunder and lightning outside as you can see from the bad picture quality And it looks a lot smaller from a distance. Its about the same cubic size as my last playroom was…Great for me! I know she wants to put some pretty coloured solar lighting up; around the gazebo, around the front flight and across the entrance door. She is also putting those coloured solar lights on the ground around the front of the entrance and the flight area. Then all that’s left to do is the gravel. Typically, she couldn’t make her mind up so I think we are having the remainder of the garden sectioned and different types of gravel added to each area; And along with all the flowers, trees and plants she is getting everywhere… and the arch and climber for the front gate, that should be about it!!…… I know its gonna look absolutely gorgeous when its finished… but I couldn’t wait to share it with you all… Impatient to the end PHEW!! Since me ‘scripting the above’ Mummy has been out and added some toys and took some more pictures. I have added them here for you to see. They are taken from different angles of the garden, but they all show the main thing off which is my playroom!! So it really is just the lighting , gravel, arch and other plants that have to be done now!!Oh my goodness. I cant wait!I KNOW I’m gonna be out there this weekend, and even tho the plants, lights and gravel arent there, it makes no odds to me, cos Im a parrot and I can still cause havoc out there … Yippee! Thanks for coming in today to read about my exciting times just now … now I’m off to get her to sort the outdoor fruit-bowl… Cos Im gonna need an apple or two to chew on, aren’t I? W H O O O P P P P E E E E E E E E ! !
