OK, I'm going to make some lists here of things I like and don't like in case people forget.
I like lots of toys, but especially these:
- bottle caps that are different sizes and colors so I can put them inside each other
- corks
- bright color plastic thingies that I can chew on
- I like purple the best, but red is good too
- wood rings and beads
- I like to play with people most, especially funny ones
In my house here's what I like and what I don't like::
- I like the patio with all the plants
- I like my own little house and I like lots of things to climb and swing on in it. Sometimes I just like to sit in here and be quiet and think about things.
- I like the kitchen and all the jars of nuts and fruits and seeds and stuff, but I don't like sharing the bar with cats. Mom says I have to though and I'm not even allowed to play with their tails or chase them.
- I don't like plastic floor mats. They are really scary but if I growl at them they lay down again.
- I don't like dustpans, especially near my house. Growling helps with these too.
- I like dustbusters OK, as long as they don't come too close. I just sing until they stop making noise.
- I don't like vacuum cleaners, they're too scary and it doesn't even help to sing or growl.
- I like my wood jungle gyms especially the ones I can hang upside down from.
- I like my bedroom. It is where mom takes baths and splashes in the shower and it is a cozy place to sleep at night. So I told her that's where I want my bed to be. Mom sometimes wakes me up at night, but that's OK cuz she tries not to and she has to get ready for bed in the dark. I like to come in here when mom brings out the vacuum too.
- I like to chew on fresh plants, but I'm not allowed to, even though they are all edible ones. Bamboo is my favorite.
I like a lot of food, only I don't always like the same foods all the time. But most of these I like all the time:
- edamame. these are so good and they're fun too.
- big fat sweet peas in the pod. ditto, but these are harder for mom to find all the time.
- oatmeal. I like this with some baby food mixed in like sweet potoatoes and also a little yogurt. It also has something called Harry's Mash in it too, but that's when it gets cooked. I have to have my oats almost every night before bed, unless I pigged out too much for dinner.
- oh yeah, oats are in a cup and we eat them with a spoon.
- cereal. I get a little bowl for myself when mom has cereal for breakfast, and mine has soymilk on it. My favorite cereals are the flakes with flax and also little shredded wheats.
- bananas, apples, grapes, strawberries, cantaloupe. only sometimes I don't like some of these. It's hard to tell when. I just make up my mind in the morning.
- I don't like oranges very much, but sometimes I like the peels.
- broccoli, celery and carrots can be fun sometimes
- I really like Parrot Pie. Mom makes it especially for me and it is kind of like cornbread but it has a lot of other stuff in it too. Some of the other stuff is special kinds of flours, and also apples, celery, and carrots. She puts sweet potatoes from baby jars in it too. Gosh is it ever good. I eat this all the time. Sometimes we put bell peppers and hot red peppers in it too.
- Itty-Bitty-Birdie-Bites. These are my own cookies that are REALLY good. I like the spicy ones and the ones that have blueberries especially.
- I like walnuts the best, and safflower seeds. Sunflower seeds are good too, and sometimes almonds. Cashews look weird so I don't like them
- Here are the "Bird Foods" that I like the best: GoldenFeast, ones like Carribean South are very yummy. Spicy Wet Mix that has veggies and pasta and peppers, only I like to eat this straight from the jar too. I didn't used to eat crunchies but now I like to munch on ZuPreem crunchies, like the wild & spicy kind.
- I like purple cabbage when mom gets it in a salad. It's purple and fun. Purple is my favorite color.
- Blueberries. They are kind of purple too and they make a really big mess!
- Spaghetti! This is also one of mom's favorites and she makes it with good stuff in the sauce.
- Dog food. For some reason this grosses mom out. It does kind of stick to my beak.
- Mashed potatoes. Duh.
- Corn on the cob. This keeps me busy for a long time, and I can shread the cob afterwards too!
Here are the things I like that I'm not supposed to have, but sometimes I get to have teeny tiny tastes, or maybe just a special occasion:
- pepsi and also beer and wine. but these are not good for me so I only get the tiniest taste. Sometimes I try to dive in mom's beer glass, except when it's belgian beer which is foul tasting.
- whipped cream. that's the best. Mom says my eyes make crazy spirals like in the cartoons when I taste this.
- cookies. sometimes we share one when we've been really good.
- ritz bits with peanut butter. yum.
- tortilla chips. I get to eat these when we go to the mexican restaurant where they make a fuss over me.
- french fries. sometimes we share these when we're being bad.
Now I'll make a list of what I like to do the best.
- I like to visit the bird store where I can see the babies. I really think we should bring one home to live with us, or maybe two, but one is OK. Even a grown-up is OK. They are fun to visit too, but I like the grey babies the best.
- Ride in the car, but only during the day. We have to drive home at night too, but then I'm just quiet and hold on to my strap and keep a watch out for anything bad. During the day it's a good time to sing in the car.
- Hang upside down. It's a good way to wake up in the morning and get my blood flowing. This is also a good way to attack my toys when they need it. Sometimes I like mom to swing me upside down too. In my houses it's fun to go upside down on the swings. People should do this more.
- Snuggle on mom's shoulder. This is best right before bed, and sometimes in the morning too.
- Watch mom cook everyone's breakfast and dinner. There is a lot going on then and it's fun to see how things are made.
- I like to fight with mom's friend Melissa who makes funny faces at me and laughs and tries to grab my tail. It's not really a fight though, we are just pretending.
- mom likes to give me noogies and raspberries, but I'm not sure if I like those or not.
- i like to get fluffled first thing in the morning. that's under my wings and I dance around and squeak.
- I like to go for a walk on the beach. At first that was scary a little, but it is pretty nice out there and I can yell and sing as loud as I want. Once I got my feet in the water, but I don't really like that.
- I like to jump in the sink with water and flap around. It makes me really wet, and then I get out, and then I do it again. I don't know why I do this! Sometimes I get to use mom's blow-dryer afterwards and that is nice. This is kind of a weird thing so I only do it a few times a month.
- I don't like showers and I don't like rain. You are supposed to go where it is dry when it's raining, not stand out in it. I just watch from up on the high perch when mom takes a shower. She seems to like it, but I'd rather sing than get sprayed on.
I'll keep working on these lists so you know what I like and don't like if you come to visit sometime.
