Hello. My name is Stephanie and I live in Pennsylvania. My cat died 6 months ago while I was studying abroad. I am still abroad but soon will have to leave and I am sad about it because I love it here! I also dont want to return to an empty apartment without my cat - who I loved so much! I started researching all sorts of new animals, smaller ones, that would be easier to move after I find a job and not as big as a cat incase I have a small apartment or a roommate. The list is long - ferrets, guinea pigs, mice, fish, chinchilla's, rabbits, hedge hogs, and many more. All of them seemed to be a replacement to my cat and almost seemed like more work, when what I really wanted was a cat! I saw a picture of some lovebirds and decided to start looking into parrots. I didnt like the noise level of the lovebird so I researched song birds and finally settled on the canary. But no one was willing to let me adopt a canary from them until the fall meaning I would have my empty apartment for quite some time. I was showing my brother some pictures of cockatoo's when I came across the parrotlet. After TONS of research and asking tons of questions to many aviaries, I decided he would be perfect for me! So here I am, still abroad but making arrangements to adopt the little guy when I move into my apartment. The aviary I am getting him from is GREAT! I couldnt have had more luck. She is saving me the best of the babies and sends me pictures regularly, some of which I have posted. My adventure has barely started. But I am loving every moment! More stories and things will be online and I hope you enjoy reading the tales of a first time bid owner.
