KACEY'S NEWEST TRAUMA: My Dad and I had to take Kacey to the vet tonite. This morning when she got up, I was going to do some therapy on her right wing when I noticed a small lump on the good part of her right wing. It caused some pain when I touched it. I thought maybe it was a small cyst and I would keep an eye on it as she had a follow up appt with the vet on Fiday April 13 at 9:00am. My Mom took a nap with both Maxi and Kacey till 5pm. I checked Kacey's wing and felt the lump had gotten much larger and was causing her considerable pain. I called the vet's office and they told me to bring her in. Dr Etsinger, Kacey's vet looked it over and then took an x-ray of her wing. She showed us where the fracture was healing in her wing and where you could see the swelling. There was no new fracture, she had somehow severely bruised her shoulder area and a small blood vessel broke causing internal bleeding and swelling. We were given pain medicine for Kacey and told to put small ice pack on her wing every so often to help reduce swelling. Kacey has been resting comfortably in her pet tent since got home from vet. She has had one application of ice pack to her wing. She has been preening also. BEST NEWS IS SHE GOT HER COLLAR OFF! She is sooooo happy that the collar is off and she can preen properly. I will take an updated pic of her tomorrow with the collar off. I have taken pics over the weeks to show how she has been doing. Maxi has been worried about her and keeps checking on her. My Mom says he had a fit when we left with her to go to the vet. First thing he did when we got home was to check her out and gave her some beak kisses. What a sweetheart. Vet told us if the swelling goes down and she is doing okay then she doesn't have to go in on Friday, we can wait till April 27th for her next follow up visit. Kacey's weight is up to 91.4 grms. Her appetite has been good. Kacey has been such a trooper thru all this. I just can't believe all the problems she has been having. Vet agreed with us that she may have bad genetics. We will make Kacey's life happy forever how long she lasts. I just don't think she will last 10yrs. Kacey is our special little sweetheart.
