SHARKEY UPDATE 7-28-07

As I previously wrote my sister's conure, Sharkey got spooked and flew out of the house on Tuesday 7-24. She put an add in the local paper in lost and found pets. She had a couple calls on some lost birds but they were too small. On Friday 7-27 someone called saying they rescued a green bird out of their swimming pool. The description fit Sharkey. My sister made arrangements to pick him up Saturday 7-28 morning. It was Sharkey. She got to hold him for about maybe 2 minutes when the people's dog came running in and barking scaring Sharkey. Sharkey flew out of my sister's hand and the dog jumped up after Sharkey and grabbed him in its mouth. Unfortunately Sharkey was killed. It was a shock to my sister as Sharkey survived 4 days outside and it rained hard for 2 days.  It is hard to believe that Sharkey is dead, it was a miracle that he survived and was found. I know my sister was at fault for Sharkey flying out of the house, but I blame the people for not putting their dog in another room or outside till Sharkey was safely out of the house. Sharkey was scared and nervous to begin with and the dog made things all the more worse. I think the people owe my sister for the death of Sharkey. What do you think?
