Diamond Doves I am normally so good about not giving into my impulses when I visit the petshop, but today when I went to the petstore to buy Hazelnut & Pistachio some millet and saw these tiny fluff balls, I just couldn't resist !!!!!! They are sooo cute and little! Diamond doves are native to Australia, and are one of the smallest doves, weighing only 23-27 grams, they're even smaller than budgies! The male and female have distinct colours, although I think describing the female as brown and male as grey doesn't do them any justice, and neither do these pictures. The female's wings look almost copper under the sunlight, and the male is a mixture of silver and a powdery blue. These little fluffies aren't tame, but I plan on taming them. It will probably take a lot of patience and presistence, but I won't give up, because I simply don't have the heart to keep any bird in a cage 24/7, no matter how small the bird. Right now they're in quarintine in a seperate room from my other birds, but they did get out when I was transferring them to their cage and flew around the house frantically at really high speeds. I was so worried they would hurt themselves. But finally I caught them and they're safe and sound in their new cage. They haven't made a sound yet, I'm curious to hear what their coo sounds like. Anyway, I love them soooo much, and can't wait till they're settled in. They seem a bit frightened right now I read that I should allow them to settle in for about 2 weeks and not to bother them except for changing food and water and papers. So after 2 weeks hopefully I can start training them
