Apple vinegar  Reply with quote

Hi there!

I’ve read that apple vinegar is good for disinfection and even for your parrot’s drinking water.

Question Can anybody tell me how much of it should be used for cleaning (example: 1 t.spoon per liter) and for drinking?

Question And how often I can give it to my baby?

Thank u very much, Julia. Smile

Here are some things Ive read about ACV - My birds get it daily

Apple cider vinegar can provide your bird with enzymes and important minerals, such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, chlorine, phosphorus, iron, silicon and other trace minerals. Apple cider vinegar also contains bioflavonoids (vitamin P), beta-carotene (vitamin A), vitamin C,E,B1, B2 and B6. It also contains tannins, malic acid, tartaric acid, propionic acid, acetic acid and pectin.

Additional Benefits*
Apple cider vinegar will help prevent the growth of bacteria or fungal growth on fresh foods. I use a mister bottle and spray it on my birds fresh greens. I also use it to remove pesticide residues on my fruits and vegetables.

Aid for Digestion*
Apple cider vinegar is helpful as an aid for digestion, breaking down minerals, fat and proteins. Apple cider vinegar inhibits the growth of unfriendly bacteria in the digestive tract. Apple Cider Vinegar should not be used if your bird has any irritation to the intestinal tract.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apple cider vinegar (Organic, Raw, Unpasteurized, Golden Variety). Boosts the immune system and fights bacteria. Aids in healingl infections of the urinary tract and kidneys. Balances electrolytes and enzymes and adds minerals. Add raw apple cider vinegar to your pet's waters - about 1/2 teaspoon per pint of water . If she won't drink it at first, add a little raw honey to sweeten the taste, and gradually phase out the honey. Don't buy distilled, light amber, or white vinegar. These are fine for cleaning, but are of no nutritional value.

Sassie, that is a wonderful rundown on apple cider vinegar. I have one thing tho add. Read the label carefully!!! There are vinegars which say "apple cider vinegar" on the label, but in fine print, it is part apple cider vinegar, and the rest acetic acid or white vinegar to bring to a certain acid level. This is dangerous because it is legal to make acetic acid and white vinegar from petroleum.

I am a great fan of apple cider vinegar to combat bacteria and fungus and to condition the digestive tract. The non-pasturized stuff is a living food.

My vet recommended to add some to the drinking water when Flit was diagnozed with megabacteriosis. (Some kind of molt)

How much did your vet suggest? 1/2 teaspoon per pint as Sassie suggested for other pets?

Sue, since I live in country that uses imperial rather than metrics (what I'm used to) I have this site on my favourites list Smile

http://www.onlineconversion.com/

It comes very handy when I'm trying to work things out! Laughing It may be in english, but its easy to navigate. Plus, you're so good at english anyway you should have no problems Wink
