You need to pull the broken feather out so it doesn't start bleeding again, incase it unclots.

OH I'm sorry I didn't get to this message before hand. I hope things work at the vet for you and Jojo.

One thing though for future references, if it stops bleeding, keep a very close eyes on it. It really does depends on where the break is. If it's a really 'young' and new blood feathers, chances are you'll have to pull it as it acts like a blood vessels. I've had blood feathers that broke on my budgies that aren't bad that I don't need to pull the feathers as they are more 'mature', and the blood supply aren't as readily available for it bleed out. and if you're not comfortable pulling feathers out and are waiting to go to the vet, pack the open wound/blood feather broken tips with loads and loads of corn flour, that'll act as a clotting agent, but of course the bird might pick it off, and you'll have to repack it again.

Do you know how to pull blood feathers? it isn't as bad as it sounds, yes lots of blood to deal with, but I believe it isn't as painful as you think it is for the birds. get someone to show you how it's done, may be the vet would show you when you go. good luck.
