I have a rescued amazon who is 16 years old and looks the picture of health. He has been with us a month and at first he was really happy and chatty and a wonderful little boy. On the 22nd of december he was really struggling for breath and wheezing so we had no choice but to rush him too our normal vets, he was given a steroid injection and within the hour he was absoloutly fine the vet thought a possible allergy to something. As a fmily we know not to use air fresheners or have candles wear perfume or have anything that can be toxic to parrots he was fine up untill new years day when exactly the same thing again and again we rushed him to our vets as the avian vet is over an hour away. This time the vet kept him in, was given steroid injection and kept under obs overnight we collected him the next day a happy excited bird. Ive now made an appointment at the avian vets for monday as i have been informed by the previous owner that he had this condition but they thought nothing of it. She also told me that when his cage was being cleaned he would play in the pantry where mould was found. My question is if this is aspergillosis would he still be eating drinking and looking a picture or health. He has no nasal discharge his poo is normal apart from the breathing episodes he has no other symptoms does this ring any bells with any other bird keepers.
Thanks
Claire

Sorry does not ring a bell with me. The best thing to be sure is what you have done, make an appointment with an avian vet. Good luck and I hope your avian vet can help you Monday.
