She's doing very well! The vet said there was barely enough skin for him to close it back up, so we got her in there just in time. He told us if we'd waited for it to get any larger, he probably wouldn't have been able to remove it easily.

But she seems much happier now that that awful growth is removed. I imagine she should.. I'd be uncomfortable if I had a big thing like that on my back. ;] She's even been singing for us, which she doesn't usually do. So hopefully it won't come back and she'll be fine for the rest of her years. Very Happy

What a relief that your dad let your pet have its operation! I am glad that your little bird came through well and feels better. However, there is still an issue that troubles me. Your dog.
Why, I wondered, are both the dog and the bird getting tumors? I wondered, since you live in Florida, if the city is spraying for insects, if your parents use pesticides, or if you and your pets are being exposed to any other kind of air pollution. Does your house get regular pesticide treatments for fleas or does the dog wear anti-flea chemicals? There are also thousands of perfumed products that use volatile organic compounds which compromise the health of humans as well as that of pets. (It will say "fragrance" on the label.) Birds are especially sensitive: remember the canary in the coal mines? Maybe you could put an air cleaner on your holiday gift wish list.

Even if you can’t locate any pollution, I saw an idea on the internet for an anti-tumor diet for a lovebird. If you are interested, try searching for "tumor-shrinking diet lovebird". (I didn’t save the address, sorry) Adding some super foods to your bird’s diet might help protect it from a relapse. Red clover, for example, is supposed to be very good against tumor growth.
