Cleaning up after a PBFD bird  Reply with quote

Does anyone know anything about cleaning up afer a PBFD bird. Picasso has the run of the house and can be a little messy like all birds, I clean up after him but I don't know if I'm getting everything like the feather dust etc. I'm not worried about it being suitable for another bird since hopefully I won't be getting one any time soon (and would be sure any new birds were vaccinated and have antibodies to be sure) I'm more worried about having visitors who have their own birds at home, sure they are not going to be rolling around on the floor and investigating all the nooks and crannys like a bird would Laughing but what about the incidental stuff like airborne feather dust? I'll be asking the vet when I see him in the next few weeks.

that's a good question shell! Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you though Confused Let us know what your vet says. I never thought of what might be brought into the home or taken out and if it's harmful to our birds or someone elses.

The vet said to clean all the cages etc with a solution of bleach and water and that he had a disinfectant spray they use in the clinic he could give me to do the house with, I don't know if the domestic cleaners like glen 20 etc would work as well the stuff they use at the vets, is pretty strong.

I don't know what it is called but at the vet they spray it around the room as heavy droplets so it doesn't hang in the air, as well as using it on bench tops perches etc.
