Wattery poo!  Reply with quote

Lately Ana's poo has been getting very liqiudy. So much so that my mom mistook it for pee when it landed on the floor. I gave her a bit of string/stick cheese yesterday so I think that may be the problem. She's been very active lately today, so I'm not too worried. Should I contact my vet?

I'm not the best one to answer that as I'm the very first one to freak out & panic if there's a change in in my birds poops.
However, yes, it could very well just be something she ate. People here have told me that citrus can make poop clear & liquidy, but I don't know about cheese.

Dairy products aren't real good to give. They should be given in very small portions or even never. Depending on how much he had could be the reason. Also, if they have more to drink than normal or very juicy fruits it can cause them to have liquidy poo. Usually a 24 hour observance of the poo is required. Things usually clear up within that time.

My Apollo poops liquid poop all the time, simply that he drinks a lot sometimes or it's just that he's ready for food and his crop has been emptied. If it stays like that for more than 24 hours I would give the vet a call, but otherwise it's ok.

I really don't think the cheese is the problem. They can have cheese, but please don't give her milk. Parrots or hooked bill are lactose intolerance, they don't deal very well with that. But cheese has been processed, so it's fine. I wouldn't give it too much simply for the fat contents of it. The occasion treat is fine.

I'm with everyone else on this one, wait for 24 hours and if it still looks bad then is the time to call the vet. Ana probably just had a big drink Smile
