They are the same, but the correct taxonomic name for them is ringed turtle dove |

Luke, there's also the Eurasian collared dove, I think that's what you're talking about. They are slightly bigger than ring-necked, and they are not domesticated like the ringnecks. |

ooohhhhhhhh, thanks shirin.
Another question, how do you know if you buy a pair of birds, if they are related and you wanna breed them, will it matter if they are related, i think it would. |

Hi Luke
I don't recommend inbreeding. In some cases you can get healthy offspring, but there are also chances that your will get offspring with health problems or genetic defects. So to avoid those chances, best to just avoid inbreeding altogether.
There's no way of knowing if a pair you're buying are siblings or not, without genetic testing. But if you find a reputable dove fancier in your area, they won't lie to you. Just don't go to a pet store |

I have a pair of ringnecks now! There silver ones i think there normal coloured!! I had to go into london to pick them from the shop, i think there brother and sis though, there were two eggs in their seed bowl at the shop. So no inbreeding for them! But thats a good excuse to get another pair
There kinda friendly but very timid and iv left my camera charger on holiday so no pics! |

WOOHOOO!!!! I'm so excited for you!!!! But I'm also mad at you for leaving your camera charger!!! I'm so anxious to see them, I bet they're beautiful! Do they have a dark ring arund their necks? Or is it pale like mines? What colour are their eyes? What does your mom think?? |

I have used my old camera, here they are http://www.fluffies.org/en/flu.....ry_id=1582
I have built a cage for them and they are in the aviary. Very bad fliers, very clumsy but really friendly and there heads move like little machines! |

They are quite timid as they have been kept in an aviary, but will step onto your hand and fly to you for the food bowl.
Oh, shirin what food have your doves got? I have given them sunflower hearts, budgie food and crushed oats. |
