Help! Splayed leggs  Reply with quote

Ok, need some advice.
Silver doves, 2 eggs, 1 hatched.
Now 10 days old/ eyes just starting to open.
But one of it's legs is splayed right out.
I am thinking of hand rearing it and putting it into a small tub so it cannot splay out its leg. I fear that f i leave it, it'll get worse and unrepairable.
Obvioulsy i don't want to hand rear a dove but.........
What'd you think???

Hi Luke,
Sorry for my late reply. No, don't attempt to handfeed the baby, this is not necessary. Pigeon milk is hard to immitate and you could kill the baby by trying to force feed it. Here's some links that should help you in taking care of the leg:

Hi!
Baby is fine! I don't think it was splayed legs now Confused , just me being panicky.. but i put loads of little twigs and hay in the nest, i think it didn't have anything to hold it's legs onto. And now it's fine!
Thanks for your help, i'll get some pictures!
