my new baby SI girl on friday! and photos!  Reply with quote

hey all!
im very excited im getting my new baby on friday finally after 4 months of searching for a breeder and finding the right one! so on friday im heading off at 8am for a 2 and 1/2 hour drive to get my new girl. im so excited!!!!!! i dont want to sound vain or like a know it all with birds, i learn something new every day with them but i do know quite alot about parrots, just curious how long should i quarrentine her? im going to be keeping her in my room away from bella (my Idian Ringneck) just incase! plus she is only about 70 days old ans still on 2 -3 feedings per day so ill be keeping her in my room for the next month or so wil this be long enough i really dont want bella getting jeolous of her. i think it will be ok casue bella is 4 months old so she is still a baby too. i want to give her a slow intro to her new sister!

here is ruby! my SI ekkie

I bet you're very excited indeed! Smile
Wondering if you can sleep those nights LOL! Smile

I don't know about the quarantine, I'd say at least till you have the test results. SOme diseases have longer incubation periods I think?

By the way, you're (future) birds are just beautiful!

OMG!! I can't believe it!! Finally another member from Western Australia!! hehe...

Ruby is soooo beautiful!! She's amazing. Smile Where are you getting her from? I don't know of any Ekkie breeder in WA.

35 days is the recommended quarantine period for any new bird added to the flock. Or of course unless the test comes back negative. But if it was me, I'd still quarantine them the full 35 days. Just in case that something didn't show up in the test.

Bella is gorgeous too!! I just simply love those IR. they are wonderful bird. Smile

oh thanks guys.... hehe right now i can hear bella jumping around in her cage wanting out! she just hates bed time.

thanks for help with the Q issue... she is getting vet checked before i even take her home!

cheeta! yay i have never heard of anyone is west aust that has an ekkie.. a breeder in Eaton (near bunary) h/r all kinds of parrots soon even scarlet and blue and gold macaws! he is awesome and so friendly he is very nice and knowlegdable and is extemely proffesional. he has so many breeding parrots and has the rearest 28's in the world... he has developed a blue 28 parrot which i got to see which is amazing (apprently there are only about 4 in the whole world) and has a cinnamon winged breeding pair of galahs too. plus gang gangs and major mitchells not to mention my favorite the SI ekkies!
if you ever want a parrot buy off him, he wont rip you off let me tell ya he is very well priced and very leaneat. im paying half now (on friday) and half in jan... how nice is that he said it was completely fine, cause of xmas coming up and he is very cheap for his quailty of parrots.

im soooo excited, i know i think about getting her before i go to sleep and i cant sleep! haha! Embarassed thanks for all your comments on my babies.
Very Happy

Oh wow! Eaton! I didn't think that there'd be any parrot breeder in Eaton! My father in law lives there, so may be I can hunt this guy down one day and see if he'll allow for a visit. Smile heh... He certainly sounds like a real reasonable guy!

I would love to see the blue 28 parrots! I can imagine it! Did you by chance took some pic of it? Oh and the macaws!! WOW!!! I'll definitely have to buy another bird just so I can visit his breeding compound!! LOL...

I bet you're very excited about getting your new baby. Smile I'm excited for you!! Smile

wow you got to see some real live macaws. I saw one in the vet surgery when I took the first alexandrine I had to an avian vet about 2 weeks ago. She was a sick green wing macaw that was on the mend. She was lovely (what I saw of her anyway) and I could not believe how big her head and beak were. I thought my ekkies beak was big, it is nothing to a macaw's.
