Hi Johanna and welcome! I think you will find that other than size, there really isn't that much difference in the sub species. At one time it was thought that the male and female were actually different breeds.
Feather plucking can come from different factors including stress due to being placed in an uncomfortable location, being bored, being jealous, uncomfortable skin from smokers hands etc.. there are loads of reasons for it but if you keep your bird happy and healthy there is no real reason for it and you should have a well balanced bird who does not feather pluck.
