| Best bedding? |
|
|
What kind of bedding does everyone here use to line their cages? I've heard negatives of pretty much every option except for black and white newsprint and copy paper. Are those the best options? |

The bland and white news paper is perfectly fine. I tend to line my cages with butcher's paper. It's basically newspaper without print on it. I get the end roll from printing company for free but some do ask for a little contribution for it. |

I use newspaper. The birds can't get to it anyway, because of the grill, so I don't mind if the paper has colour print in it too. But with the black and white newspaper, or the butcher's paper like Bih suggested, it's easier to inspect the poop |

I use paper towels on top of the grate for easier clean up. |

I use b&w newspaper too.
They don't tear or chew it anyway. |

Sue, do you mean like wood chips, like pine or cedar chips? Or actual sheets of wood? |

Hi Skater
I've heard that corn bedding can be bad for bird if they can have access to it. Something about sufficating them or compacting their crop or something like that. Sorry to be so vague on that. |

I don't know.. They are small square pieces of wood, or around 1 centimeter small.. And 0,5 thin (or thinner)
Not really sheets.. |

I think we're talking about the same thing, like wood shavings right? I read that cedar or pine wood shavings are toxic to the respiratory system, and have been known to cause some oral cancers too. You're not using any of these right? |

I think it's something like birch or something? I don't think it's pine. |

It's a common used cage bedding here in the Netherlands. Almost everyone uses it. |
