Are you sure what you saw on the other bird wasn't just the genetic baldspot that most cockatiels have on their heads? Most people that work at petstores aren't knowledgeable about these types of things, so they just make up a story to explain things.
Also if you want a bird to keep your tiel company, why would you get a budgie? Why not another tiel? They're more likely to get along and bond. Just make sure it's not another male, cuz then the chances of them being aggressive towards eachother is higher. But if you have male/female, it should be fine, and they'll more than likely eventually be able to share a cage. Just because he's bonded to you, it doesn't mean he won't be able to bond with another bird give it a try, you'll be surprised at how happy he will be to get a friend of the same species. |
