Bird Laws in Holland  Reply with quote

Hi! I just love your site, it is so much fun, and I just spend hours watching the movies and looking at the pictures of your wonderful birds! I am Dutch and live in Canada, but next summer I am going back to Holland and then Spain for about two and a half months. I want to take my lovebird, Pico, and I was just wondering if Holland and Spain had any laws against brining in parrots from Canada. I have a travel cage, and Pico just loves going on trips (in the car, out for walks) and is extremely comfortable with other people, so I don\'t think it would be a problem for him. Would you know of any laws against the bringing in of parrots into Holland, or what kind of paperwork I would need to bring him in? Thanks so much! Sandra-Mae Luykx, Vancouver, Canada

Hi there!

Welcome on this forum.. Smile

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question.. But perhaps someone else over here does? I will send someone of the Dutch forum here, I hope she can provide an answer?

How long have you been living outside Holland? Smile

Well Thank you very much! I am seventeen years old, and my parents came from Holland to Canada when they were about 27 years old. I wasn't born in Holland, but I totally understand Dutch as it was my first language. I am not too good at reading Dutch, but I understand everything! I have been to Holland twice, and I'm going again next summer for about a month, so I really hope to bring my bird! Thanks a lot, and I hope someone can help me, but there is no rush Very Happy

I see, great to hear from a dutch person overseas! Smile
I was wondering where your parents lived in the Netherlands? Where did you go last times?

I asked the Dutch users about your lovebird..
You can read about it here:

sorry it took so long to reply, i've been busy with school Confused But thanks so much for showing me where this topic was on the site. About your question, my mom and dad both grew up in Amsterdam, and while I was there a few years ago, I visited mostly Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and I went to the coast, although i'm not too sure where.....I'm going back next year though, and i'm really looking forward!
