I rescue another bird. This time a parakeet.
Actually she looks a little different than my other keets.
she is a lot more fluffy and smaller and very pretty bright yellow with black spots
I do not see any thing wrong except its breathing appears to be very rapid
she/he is in quarantine right now.
This is the first bird I have excepted from someone I do not know.
so anyone that has had exprience and rescueing birds Please share info.
The word is out about me taken in unwanted birds
so far I have rescue 4 .... 1 QUAKER.... 3 PARAKEETS..and they still are with me
and I do not mind at all
Ok what is the difference of a budgie and a keet?

If the bird is breathing very fast, could it be nervous perhaps?
If not, could you consult an avian vet?
Please be careful with rescueing birds. Though it's noble it takes a lot of effort (and money?) to make these birds shine again.
Try not to go too fast. |

I hope you have a healthy budgie on your hands there. Kudos to you for rescueing her
BTW, there is no difference between a parakeet and a budgerigar, they are the same thing |

You're very welcome I once tested someone at the store once, just to see what they'd say and asked them the difference between them was, they said budgerigars are from England |

If he's sitting at the bottom of the cage with his wings droopy, that's usually a sign of illness Keep a close eye on him, if this continues I would take him to be checked out by an avian vet.
By the way one of the members here (Cheeta) is very knowledgeable about budgies and she'll be able to help you with any questions you may have. Hopefully she'll be on line soon enough |

I think that checking with the vet would be the best option here.
Do you know why the previous owner got rid of this poor bird? |

he told me it was because he is sick and could not afford him anymore
the bird he said was not eating either.
however.. the keet is eating very well. this morning he was perching on he bottom perch trying to tuck s little head under his wing
it look pitful poor little guy.
but that is a good sign??/
I have put him in a clean cage one that I know is sickness clear all new stuff inside also.
a lower and a higher perch. clean water & food everyday
my avian vet is out of town right now
every one pray for the little guy 'POP'S"
yeap we named him he is the oldest of all my fids |

Oh, I'm SO glad to read that you kept him quarantined from your other fids!
You know, you might want to call your avian vets ofc, maybe they have someone working there that could refer you to someone else in this case? |

Do you have a heating panel? Birds that are ill have to sit warm..
Could you consult another avian vet? There must be one in another town. |
