Basicly you are talking about DNA, very accurate, there are a number of companies that do this via Mail. They send you a Kit, you take a blood sample, send it back and they send you the result. This is what the Vet would do. If you feel comfertable taking a blood sample...

Do you mean DNA like JOhn said? Or do you mean by the looks of a bird? |

You can do DNA testing through this site:
http://www.avianbiotech.com/SexingCenter.htm
all you have to do is send them a feather, you don't have to take blood.
Some people can tell the sex by feeling the pelvic bones of the bird, but that's not very accurate. |

I used Avian Biotech with feathers also. The feathers were processed, and results were on line as fast as the feathers went across the country and were received in the mail. I had to call them, and they had great customer service too.
