| Shirin or someone else -> Question about eggs |
|
|
A member on the Dutch forum was wondering about this, and as I don't know the answer I thought, perhaps you'd might know this.. (Especially Shirin, as I think you have done some ornithology classes?)
This member had a pair of lovebirds. The male died unfortunately. Is it possible that the female gathers semen or is the egg produced right away?
She's wondering because if this is an egg will be a decendant from her deceased male or from her current (new) husband..
Thanks in advance! |

don't know about lovebirds. But I do know that in budgies, a female budgies can store semen for up to two weeks from the last 'contact' with a male. May be that's how it is with lovies as well?? |

As far as I remember, I think Bih is right. It can be stored for up to about that long. |
