Should i take my Senegal to the Vets :(  Reply with quote  

I have just got my first Parrot (a senegal) called Poppet Very Happy and i dont know wether to take him/her to the vets and get him sexed and Microchipped or not. He/she is only bout 16 weeks old.

Generally it is recommended that any new parrots (especially ones from pet shops) be taken to the Avian vet for a well-bird check, you know, just a look over by the avi vet. You can decide to get it microchipped or not. As with sexing, that's up to you. Very Happy

I should advice you to visit an avian vet.
Just for a well-bird check because some diseases can't be seen from the outside. I had microchipped my 'toos too as this can't be removed from the bird and it can be recognised always.
