sigh!  Reply with quote

Have since acouple of months ago made the aquaintance of a white capped pionus in a pet store. It's this pi that made me intressersted in buying my own. Sadly, this bird was too expensive for me, as the store has put the price at about 5 times as much as you would normaly pay for this kind of bird here in sweden ( 1700 dollars, the equivalent of my entire months pay abd is slight lower than the avrage monthly pay here in Sweden, and currently have 10 cats (all rescues, some permanently adopted by me, some looking for homes.) 9 gunieapigs , 3 cockatiels and 2 budiges ( also more or less rescues all of them exept one.)

Well, this little guy/girl, was brought from holland at a young age, and has had it's wings clipped before even being a year old, simply because someone was careless and it flew away out into the mall the store is in. No! No!

It's gota fairly small cage, which is smaller than the legal limit here in Sweden, and it sits in a room with the rest of the birdies and "rodents" all by it's self, with only two branches to sit on, and a toy stuck at the very top of the inner cage.

To the main point of all this complaining and also something that made my heart warm... As I've visited it quite a few times these past months it seems to recognise me now, and has started lightly preening my hair if I lean my head towards the bars of the cage. and today It bobbed it's head at me and lightly fluffed it's feathers on the head. I was confused as to why it would do that, if it was mad at med for being intrusive or something, but having read up on it , now it seems (according to "The practical pionus") that this is a sign of reccognition of a know person/friend and a way of showing acceptance to being a flock member.

So now I'm even more in love with the little guy/girl Heart Heart Heart and I sooooo wish I had the money to bring it home. Unfortunately I probably never will, as my money is always at a tight stretch and I can't really save much.
I will, of course continue to visit the little fellow, but my heart aches for him and if I'm to be selfish, I'd love to have a little adoring accpeting guy at home!

Not sure what I wanted to say with this post exept maybe complain a bout the injustice made on the bird, and the injustice of the world.
